Klick had previously been contracted to install the specialist furniture for 2 laboratories at the school. We were impressed with the quality of their work and invited them back to fit out a food technology room. We are extremely happy with the design of the room layout and installation service provided by Klick. The school wanted to create a contemporary facility to inspire students to get involved with food technology.
Computer Studies Classroom Converted Into Food Technology
The area allocated had previously been 2 separate rooms used for teaching computer studies. Once these rooms were combined, the design challenge was to integrate the space to enable the food technology teacher to demonstrate and teach students in both ends of the room.
Design Brief For Food Technology Classroom
Our consultant discussed their requirements with the teaching staff and presented a number of layouts for discussion. They selected a layout with a large teacher’s desk located in the central area and 4 double peninsulas on each side. One of the workstations was equipped with DDA furniture and fitted with a mid height oven housing and a separate adjustable hob, sink and table.
TV screens were fitted into both the practical areas to allow demonstrations to be live streamed to the pupils at each end of the room. Extraction hoods were located above each workstation.
The teaching staff selected smart light grey furniture with clean lines, finished off with stainless steel fittings and monochrome decor. The school are delighted with the new facility and have commented that it’s causing quite a stir amongst the staff and students.
