I had worked with Klick on a previous project at the academy and having seen the quality of the product and their good workmanship I had no hesitation in appointing them for a second phase of work. It was an ambitious undertaking to refurbish 7 labs whilst major building works were in progress but Klick had the ability to meet our needs and challenging timescales. Their team liaised closely with the main contractor and worked through the phased installation programme ensuring attention to detail at every stage of the process. The project was completed to a high standard and the science department are very pleased with their new facilities.
Stephen Cooper – Finance Director , The Cooperative Academy of Manchester
Klick first worked with the Co-op Academy in 2015 refurbishing one of their labs. With the recent expansion of the school Klick was called on once again to use their expertise to install furniture for a further 7 science laboratories. The aim for the second phase was to replicate the design of the original lab, to ensure a sense of cohesion and unity between the laboratories. It was also important to upgrade the main prep room, to improve strorage and facilitate distribution of equipment to all labs.
Our designers worked to create furniture to compliment the modern and industrial nature of the building. The school used colour to brighten up the large space with blue contrast walls. Feedback from the staff is the colour has a positive and calming effect on the students.
The school opted to have Black Craquele Trespa worktops with all services mounted in the perimeter. Loose tables were positioned in the centre of the room which allows flexible teaching and an uninterrupted view of the class. Furthermore, this cost effective option allowed for the school’s budget to be maximised. The flexible layout encourages group learning and the focus on storage makes it much easier for the staff to prepare all the equipment for lessons.
Our project management team worked hard to ensure the installation programme was maintained, sticking to the tight schedule. Klick worked closely with the main contractor to minimise disruption to the building works ongoing throughout the school. The final space is practical, modern and inspiring.
