University of Kent
Klick were appointed to supply and fit the specialist laboratory furniture for the latest phase of refurbishment at the university. They co-ordinated the project well and had a clear understanding of what was required to provide a flexible research space suitable for our students. Their project management team liaised closely with the main contractor regarding the specifications and final connections. The project ran smoothly from start to handover, supported by a helpful and proactive site team. Klick have provided a quality product and the technicians are happy with the way the labs function.
Daniel Beacon – Project Manager, Estates Department, University of Kent, Canterbury
The brief was to develop a suitable lab furniture design with the optimal linear workbench space. The facilities needed to replicate a commercial laboratory, allowing students to transition between learning and the working environment. Klick worked alongside the university staff to identify the requirements of the department and make sure the technical specification was met.
A key requirement was to provide a flexible set up to allow for the laboratory furniture to be reconfigured with minimal disruption. Mobile laboratory tables with Trespa worktops were included offering maximum flexibility. Mobile lab cabinets provide underbench flexible storage solutions. They can be relocated to suit the storage requirements of each university project team and also allow for easy cleaning.
Laboratory Shelving
Two tiered laboratory reagent shelving was fitted to aid a seamless work flow. It allows for frequently used items to be stored conveniently, whilst keeping the worktops clear. Twin electrical/data sockets and outlets were incorporated onto the shelving, creating even more space for practical work. Wall mounted Trespa shelving with an anti drip groove was also supplied, in 1200mm sections, allowing for each shelf to be adjusted separately to different heights.
The university requested co-ordinating stools, to complete the research laboratory, which the students use for writing up experiments. Klick worked closely with Ash Contracting throughout the project, to co-ordinate the M & E requirements and ensure the laboratory fit-out was on schedule.
