The Aptamer Group installation was Klick’s second project with principal contractor ParkLaine Ltd and we were delighted to be selected as part of the fit out team to supply the laboratory furniture. Significant product development was required by our design team to provide the bespoke detailing necessary for the furniture. A high level of finish has been achieved throughout the new headquarters and the completed labs will offer improved functionality and first class facilities for the expanding research team.``

PROJECT BRIEF
Aptamer Group is a biotech company which specialises in creating aptamers, also known as synthetic antibodies, to be used in diagnosis or to deliver drugs which help to fight a range of diseases including cancer. Following rapid expansion Aptamer moved to new premises at York Science Park where they hope to attract talent from the University of York.
Supplier of Specialist Lab Furniture
ParkLaine Ltd acted as the principal contractor for the fit out and commissioned Klick to supply and install the specialist furniture for the containment level 1 and 2 labs.
Expansion Requires Lab Furniture Upgrade
The new 3 floor 18,000 sq ft facility required a laboratory furniture layout that would offer the flexibility and functionality to create an inspirational new workspace for Aptamer’s growing team of scientists. The building currently accommodates 60 staff but has the space for up to 100 employees.
The labs are predominantly equipped with free standing tables which can be reconfigured to allow for increases in staff numbers or changes in processes. The increase in capacity and productivity will allow Aptamer to take on larger projects and achieve faster processing
Lab Furniture Specification for Aptamer Group Supplier
Klick worked with ParkLaine to refine the package until the client was happy. Bespoke Trespa shelving was developed for the PCR lab in order to accommodate 3 tiers of PCR cycler machines. The 120 laboratory tables were designed to support specific loads and fitted with Trespa TopLab Base worktops for high intensity use but with cost in mind were also value engineered to suit the client’s budget.
Klick’s installation team progressed through the programme working closely with other contractors to complete the state-of-the-art laboratories to the high specification required.
