Furniture for Laboratory – Acadian Seaplants

Furniture for Laboratory – Acadian Seaplants

When I started my research for lab furniture the Klick website stood out. It featured useful resources including case studies and a gallery of photos. Versatility was a key factor in our new laboratories and in addition to supplying and fitting a fixed formulation laboratory, Klick supplied 6 mobile lab workstations which give us 100% flexibility in our preparation area. These mobile units can support heavy equipment and make it easy to reposition things when we need to change the lab set up.
During the installation the fitting team were helpful and worked around our timetable. The quality of the furniture is excellent, and the labs work perfectly for our needs.

Mobile Furniture for the Laboratory

Acadian Seaplants Limited is a producer of seaweed, marine plant-derived products and natural plant/crop biostimulants. They were setting up their first UK laboratory facility at the Malvern Hills Science Park. The brief was to design and install flexible and high quality furniture for laboratory use.

As part of the design process klick discussed Acadian’s workflow requirements and worked on several layout options until the furniture layout was approved. Mobile units were selected for the large prep area which are ideal for accommodating and transporting heavy machinery. They also allow the layout to be changed when needed, with minimal disruption.

Furniture for the Formulation Lab

In the main formulation lab, the equipment is smaller and can easily be moved around on the workbench. Acadian opted for fixed benching here, where flexibility is less of a consideration. A large island unit was specified to accommodate equipment, with cupboards for storing supplies. There is also benching around the perimeter of the room with write up areas, sinks and further storage.

Work top options were discussed, as chemical use was a consideration and Trespa TopLab Base was specified as the work top material throughtout the labs. 316 grade stainless steel sinks were selected for their resistance to acetone and a recirculating fume cupboard with steel liner was installed.

The installation team worked closely with the client to make sure they were happy with the final details and the project was completed within the time frame allocated.
