PROJECT BRIEF
Cannapharma received an Innovate UK Smart Grant to assist in the development of an accelerated oxidisation process for CBD. The funding will help scale-up their research and demonstrate its viability at scale. Klick were commissioned to complete the laboratory furniture installation for 3 areas in their new technical facility.
Their work requires a clean pharmaceutical environment and with this in mind the Klick designers developed suitable layouts for the production lab, QC lab and formulation lab.
Design for Lab Furniture Installation
Cannapharma are involved in creating new technologies to produce cannabinoids and formulations for a variety of ailments and diseases. This requires the use of precision equipment and liquid chromatography instrumentation. Balance tables were specified which were designed by Klick, featuring anti vibration feet, Trespa worktops and a scratch resistant granite slab for additional stability.
Installation of Flexible Lab Furniture
Cannapharma’s research team selected mobile cabinets to allow flexibility on setting up the laboratory facility. Once processes are established the cabinets can be wheeled into their positions to suit workflow requirements. Mobile units have the additional advantage of being easily moveable to accommodate any future changes in staff numbers or processes.
An additional technical feature included local exhaust extraction arms which are ceiling mounted and used within the laboratory to reduce the risk of employee exposure to nauseous substances.
Klick maintained a really positive working relationship throughout the project and the staff at Cannapharma were delighted with the quality of the laboratory furniture and the functionality of the new facility.
